My Life

Rather than duplicate my Xanga post, here are some snippets from my life these days.

I had the tree guy trim up anything dangerous in the vicinity of the house. He comes every couple of weeks and does a little work. That way I can afford it.

The philodendrons are in an orgy of reproduction. It’s just plain embarrassing to lift their leaves and see this.

There were two big clumps of jungle right up against the house surrounding three palm trees. Here’s one of them.Image

I leveled them one Saturday when the tree guys were here. It didn’t take nearly as long as I thought it would. Here’s an after picture. Still need to get rid of the palms. Someday when I feel ambitious I’ll take care of that battered siding.)

It made a surprisingly compact pile of brush by the curb.

Friday evenings my sister-in-law Angela has a gig at the Colombian restaurant a few blocks from here. Sometimes her husband Diego plays with her. Alicia often sings harmony or plays percussion.

For the last couple of weeks, Alicia has been in Colombia, and Diego has had his own gigs. Right now he’s out of town at a family wedding. I’ve sung a handful of songs the last few Fridays. It doesn’t give Angela a break because she still has to play, but it provides some variety.

Still struggling a little with getting WordPress to do what I want. These images were truncated in the theme I had, so I chose another one. This one at least has a font other than Arial.

  1. Wow, that’s a tall tree! I’m glad I don’t have to climb up there! We need to get some trimming done, too. Our trees grow so fast.
I think I need to try another theme, too. The font is small and gray, so it’s hard to read. I’m still clicking on things to see what all I can do.

  2. I burst out laughing at that plant!
That is quite a high tree. You have done a good job of clearing it up. The Friday singing must be very interesting.

  3. It would be best if I DIDN’T say anything about “Phil”. šŸ˜€
    (Aren’t you proud of me?!)
What a joy for you to get to hear Alicia and her family sing and play! And that you’ve been singing to fill in! Cool! šŸ™‚
How long til you see your bride again?!
    HUGS!!!

    • I’ll be heading down to Colombia in late June, and we’ll return July 17.

It has been great to be involved in music. I’ve frequently daydreamed about singing and now I have the chance with some excellent musicians.

That was a gigantic jungle you reduced to a pile of brush!! I like this theme. I think when you figure it out, WP can actually do more things.

    • Yeah, WP is awesome. I still find it annoying that the menus are scattered here and there and that I can’t change font without changing the theme. But it took me a long time to figure out some things about Xanga as well.
